Michael started his career in 1979, as a junior in a consultant engineer’s office in Worthing, qualifying as an associate member of the Institution of Structural Engineers in 1987. During the past 33 years, he has been able to experience the industry from the perspective of the professional consultancy office, contractor’s inhouse engineer, and as a specialist subcontractor’s engineer. This has given him a unique view and understanding of the requirements of the ‘construction team’ as well as an appreciation of cost effective design. In 2009 he formed his own company, Shear Structures Ltd, and through this, is able to provide engineering solutions in a wide variety of materials and construction methods, including traditional build, timber frame, structural steel and concrete. Projects range from small domestic extensions, right through to large commercial developments, with an aim to be efficient, friendly, and provide a cost effective solution to our client’s requirements.
