COATES CASTLE

Coates Castle, which is Listed Grade II, was built by John King in the 1820s in the Strawberry Hill Gothic Style. He sold the property to George Wyndham whose Coat of Arms appears above the main entrance. There is a lot of history attached to the house with many famous visitors including Sir Winston Churchill and Kaiser Wilhelm. Lt Col Stewart Blacker developed the PIAT anti tank gun during World War II whilst at Coates Castle.

Coates Castle is constructed of stuccoed stone with crenulated gables, buttresses and gothic style turrets with the property being surrounded by Barlavington Estate land and beautiful open countryside.

Boher Architecture was asked to provide various planning application for the property to bring it up to a modern standard in terms of accommodating a more modern lifestyle whist still retaining key features of the buildings and preserving the historic elements.
